Just Say Yes...To Harm Reduction Education

Ah, good old Nancy Reagan.

The woman in the red dress meant well. A brainchild of the War on Drugs era, the First Lady's Just Say No campaign was based on the assumption that teaching kids abstinence would prevent them from using and abusing drugs.

A lot of good that did, huh?

Needless to say, Just Say No and other War on Drugs-era policies and programs failed.

As we look towards new ways of building safer, healthier, stronger communities, Harm Reduction emerges as a promising and effective strategy.

Harm Reduction policies have been implemented in municipalities as part of overall decriminalization programs.

Now, Harm Reduction is making its way into public education systems too. Yay!
