The Dynamics of Innovation

Updated: Apr 28, 2021

Those of us drawn to entrepreneurism relish the sport. We love the challenge of game play and competition. This is how you win in a dynamic system.

  • You assert yourself judiciously, understanding the nuances of timing. You enter conversations tactfully but with confidence, straddling that fine line.

  • You already know the importance of timing, and by now you realize that flow happens when your inner state converges with relevant market forces. And you manage your state as best you can.

  • You know yourself. You've been at this for a while now, so you know what your strengths and weaknesses are, enough so that when an opportunity presents itself you can bite.

As creative disruptors, we need to keep one eye trained on the market and one on ourselves. The magic moment happens at the point of convergence, when there is synchrony between who you are and how you can serve.

Sometimes you'll recognize a pain point first and then leverage your skills or ideas to solve that problem.

Other times, you'll be eager to share what you've got with the world and are just waiting for the right time, place, and people.

Innovation is more art than science. You'll innovate more when you accept ambiguity. Or better yet, learn to love it.
